Multi platinum selling superstars 50 CENT, AKON and JULIAN MARLEY are headline acts to perform at this year’s launch of Medfest - the first International Music Festival to be held in the Mediterranean, at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus, on Saturday 28th July.

Growing stronger by the day and gaining mass public frenzy, Medfest Cyprus is set to exceed all expectations. Ticket sales are soaring and their SMS promotion, offering people the chance to win exclusive tickets to Meet & Greet the artists, have broken all records by receiving just over 1000 response text messages on the first day of their promotion.

Hip Hop mogul 50 Cent, who sits comfortably alongside the likes of Tom Cruise and Oprah at No. 8 on the Forbes “Power List”, will be performing an exclusive set showcasing tracks from his forthcoming album “Curtis”, as well as previous smash hits including “Candy Shop”, “Just a little bit” and “In da club”.

Also, fresh off his successful US tour with Gwen Stefani, Akon is set to perform hits from his current album “Konvicted” selling over 3 million copies to date since its December release.

Julian Marley, son of Reggae legend Bob Marley, is to perform a live set especially prepared for Medfest2007, to showcase the style and fresh direction his forthcoming album has taken, which is an eclectic mix of jazzy, funky beats blended with a dub/reggae vibe that portrays a strong message through his lyrics.

Alongside these headline acts, a further two artists have now been added to the bill, with more to be announced.

Singer/songwriter Alaine possesses songwriting skills that show a depth of experience by working with some of Jamaica’s top producers including the internationally acclaimed Sly & Robbie (No Doubt ) and Donovan 'Don Corleon' Bennett (Sean Paul, T.O.K) . Her music is a mixture of traditional Jamaican Dancehall/Reggae rhythms combined with writing and vocal arrangements that showcase her R&B/Hip Hop influences. Her song 'No Ordinary Love' charted on several Reggae Charts from across the world including, New York, Florida, Japan, Europe and the Caribbean.

Sniper, featuring Memphis Bleek, is a home-grown talent, who was born and brought up in Cyprus. His track, featuring Memphis Bleek has been featured on Radio One’s hip hop chart in the UK, and is currently championed by radio & DJ legend Tim Westwood.

They have also confirmed Alesha Dixon (formerly of girl band Mystique) to co-host the show, along with Kat from MTV and another host to be confirmed shortly.

Along with these top artists, there will also be fun fair rides and a live radio broadcast during 5pm-7pm with freestyle and hip hop dancers performing.
